Petitions

Through collective action, petitions are a powerful tool to direct the Legislative Assembly to address pressing issues faced by Canberrans and create change in the ways that matter most to our community.

From petitions, we have driven meaningful solutions for Brindabella and as your local member, there is nothing I love more than advocating for change that means the most to you.

Anketell Street Revitalisation

I am sponsoring the petition calling to remove cars from Anketell Street to improve safety and revisualize the area to support the numerous cafes, restaurants and essential services on either side of the street and down the Laneways. Removing cars between Pitman Street and Reed Street North would significantly improve the amenity of the area, increase business opportunities and create a space for community events and festivals like SouthFest. The petition calls on the ACT Government to engage with the community and surrounding businesses about the future of Anketell Street, including closing a section to traffic to create a more connected and vibrant Tuggeranong Town Centre.

Sign the petition: Anketell Street Revitalisation ACT Legislative Assembly

The petition closes on 24 September 2026

Women's Shed Canberra

I sponsored the petition to fund and provide multi-year ongoing support for the volunteer-run Women's Shed Canberra (WSC). Starting in 2020, WSC is the ACT's first and only women's shed, providing trade-based skills training and offering a safe space where women of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, orientations and abilities build confidence, independence and community connection through practical skills. Growing demands now requires essential operational, safety and program coordination roles that volunteers can no longer sustain, placing the organisation at risk of closure. The petition urges the ACT Government to provide core funding and multi‑year support for WSC avoid closure and continue empowering women through trade-based skills.

Traffic Lights at Drakeford Dr and Noorooma St Intersection

I sponsored the petition install traffic lights at the intersection of Drakeford Drive and Noorooma Street in Isabella Plains. The development of residential housing in the area has increased traffic along Drakeford Drive and surrounding streets, turning the intersection into a serious safety risk, which has already lead to two fatalities since 2011. The petition calls on the ACT Government to act swiftly and decisively by installing traffic lights at the intersection of Drakeford Drive and Noorooma Street in Isabella Plains, making the direly needed upgrades to traffic infrastructure that the growing Tuggeranong region demands.

Restore Vital Pelvic Pain Treatment Option in the ACT

I sponsored the petition to restore public pelvic Botox procedures in the ACT public health system after they were discontinued in early 2025, despite being routinely offered in other public health systems across Australia for a number of years. As a nationally recognised, evidence-based effective treatment for managing chronic pelvis pain and endometriosis, the discontinuation of this service is deeply concerning, especially given that several public patients experienced significant improvements before it ceased. The petition calls on the ACT Government to reinstate pelvic Botulinum Toxin Injections (“pelvic Botox”) as a crucial treatment option in the ACT public health system and expand the number of trained public specialists who can do them.

South Canberra Veterans Shed

I sponsored the petition to provide a permanent, fit-for-purpose facility for the South Canberra Veterans Shed (SCVS), a not-for-profit charity providing mentoring, shared activities, and skill-building opportunities for serving and ex-serving veterans, first line responders and their families. Since its establishment, the shed has been forced to relocate five times, creating instability and severely limiting the SCVS's the ability to operate effectively, including working with its members to combat social isolation, promote mental wellbeing and strengthen community connections. The petition calls on the ACT Government to provide urgent support for the SCVS by providing a permanent, affordable, and fit-for-purpose facility so the organisation can continue its vital work supporting veterans, first responders, and their families.

Charles Conder Primary School Critical Parking Needs

I sponsored the petition to fund a car park extension and develop designated parking near the school's oval to address critical parking needs at Charles Conder Primary School. Since 2013, the parking infrastructure has remained unchanged despite enrolments at Charles Conder Primary School nearly doubling from 275 to 535 students. This has led exacerbated traffic challenges, including daily congestion, caused significant erosion of surrounding land and increased risks for the safety of students, staff and visitors. The petition calls on the ACT Government to prioritise funding for the development and expansion of parking infrastructure at Charles Conder Primary School, including designated parking spaces are established for the oval area to accommodate the school’s growing needs.

Richardson Shops

I initiated the petition due to the ongoing neglect and derelict condition of the Richardson shop precent. Since 2020, the entire precinct is empty and in serious disrepair, covered in graffiti and a site for dumping of rubbish. The petition, sponsored by Ms Joy Burch MLA, called for urgent updates regarding the future plans for the site and advice for what alternate use of the land and site can be considered.
